Hi friend, I’m Syd. Thanks for being here.
I am a travelling wedding, elopement and portrait photographer, based in beautiful Bend, Oregon. I specialize in documenting fun, timeless, natural weddings for humans who want to celebrate their love in a beautiful place- Central Oregon, or beyond!
I capture love all along the West Coast: from the Pacific Northwest, all the way down to the Southern tip of Baja California Sur, Mexico.
Having been in the wedding industry for the past 8 years, and being based in both Oregon and Todos Santos, Baja California Sur for the past 21 years, my love for people and for nature has grown to a passion. Being based in this amazingly beautiful slice of the planet has allowed me to meet and work with so many rad people from all over.
I find inspiration in the organic elements around me- in the trees, stones and streams, where the ocean touches the sand, and in the mountains that surround my home here in Bend.
My photos are centered around YOUR story, and YOUR connection. Sweet humans, chasing interesting light, and capturing the real stuff: That’s what I’m about. It’s cliché, but I love what I get to call my profession!
Since I was a child, I’ve always loved looking through the family photo albums. The hallways lined with antique picture frames. The black and white photo booth strips. The polaroid’s taped to plastic pages. The dates and the love notes in sprawling letters on the backs of faces full of love and laughter. That’s the feeling.
This is what I want to document for you.
What I care about most in my work are the simple things: the things we feel in our hearts and souls. I love meeting new people and making a connection, the nostalgia we feel from sweet memories, helping create a beautiful day, and giving my friends something special and unique that they will keep for generations.
What I Love
When I’m not behind the camera, I love the simple things in life! Trying + making new foods, hanging out with my bff hubby, caring for my plants and garden, showing people pictures of my cat that found me at a Mexican restaurant, exploring beautiful terrain, camping, and spending time with my family and chosen family.
(kinda like speed dating, but also kinda not…)
I gesture ALOT. I don’t know how to speak otherwise. So, when you schedule a session with me, expect a lot of wild hand movements. It’s okay, you can tease me about it LOL
I lived in Baja California Sur, Mexico for almost 21 years, and loved every second of it! In June, I married my bestest friend and moved back to Oregon! We currently live in Bend and I have loved being back in the high desert!
If I see a pretty or cool leaf on the ground, you can be 99.9% sure I will pick it up, show it to you, and also maybe make you feel it. I just love a good leaf!
I’m always the friend that makes sure we get a picture (heart hands) I just love collecting memories! I’ve started carrying around my polaroid camera for this very reason.
I’m extremely interested in the visual arts AND people, and that’s how my love for photography was born. I’m also passionate about color + light, whether in design, artwork, outfits, or photography. While I love a good neutral scheme, if you’re wanting to try something bright and colorful for your photo session, I’m your girl! I love helping craft a vision!
When I don’t have a camera in my hand, I’m also a floral designer! I absolutely love working with flowers and creating beautiful + interesting arrangements and installations for small weddings!
I generally eat my pancakes without syrup… Go ahead, hate on me. I just appreciate a good pancake/butter situation.
Working with Sydney was such a delight! She made me feel so comfortable during our photoshoot, and I was amazed how easy and delightful our time was together. It was like seeing an old friend after years apart! And when I saw the images she took of me I was totally floored… She truly captured how vibrant and alive I feel, and it’s exactly the type of sincerity and spirit I want to bring to my business and website. Thanks for making me shine, Sydney. I can’t wait for the next shoot! Xo
